Not because I think she should quit. But because if my household contained several Tour de France trophies and several million euros, I too would occasionally look at my alarm clock before a six-hour training ride and think:

Urška’s answer, though, is exactly why she still races.
Pogi earns his millions. She earns her own “small change.” And if relationships fall apart, women somehow still get accused of only being there for the money anyway.Which gets to the bigger point: she races for the same reason millions of women with successful partners still work. Independence. Identity. Ambition. Having something that belongs to you. And, presumably, because being an elite professional cyclist is something she actually wants to do.
But I deeply appreciate that someone looked at the greatest cyclist of his generation, looked at his girlfriend voluntarily suffering on a bicycle, and asked the question many of us would be too embarrassed to type:
“Why?”
Urška basically replied: You worry about your wife. I’ll worry about me.
